Buddha Rashmi Vesak Festival Returns in Grandeur Under the Theme “Attano wa avekkhyeya kathani akatani cha” (Let’s Focus on What We Have Done, Not What Others Have Done)
The Buddharasmi Vesak festival, organized by the Colombo Gangarama Temple, the Presidential Secretariat, the Prime Minister’s Office, and the Maha Karuna Buddhist Association of Singapore, will take place on May 23, 24, 25, and 26 at the Presidential Secretariat premises, Shangri-La Green Ground, and Gangarama Temple.
Under the theme “Attano wa avekkhyeya kathani akatani cha” (Let’s be aware of what we have done, not what others have done), this Vesak festival will feature a Giant Vesak Pandal, Vesak Lanterns Exhibition, Bakthi Gee, Vesak Dhansal, Thovil and Devolmadu, Shantikarma, flower parades, meditation programs, Viridu recitals, lighting decorations, and various cultural events.
Rice Dansala and Biscuit, Tea dansal will be available on May 23, 24, and 25 from 7:00 pm near the Presidential Secretariat.
On May 23, 24, and 25, a Bakthi Gee recital will take place at the Presidential Secretariat premises, Shangri-La Green Grounds, and the Vesak Zone near Gangarama Temple. The recital will feature Bakthi Gee troupes from the Sri Lanka Navy, Army, Air Force, Civil Security Department (CSD), and police.
The Vesak Panal, depicting the “Chulla Dharmapala” Jataka, along with spectacular lanterns, will be displayed near Baladaksha Mawatha and Beira Lake area on May 23, 24, and 25. President Ranil Wickremesinghe will inaugurate this display at 7:30 pm on May 23. Additionally, the Vesak Pandal illustrating the “Magha Manavaka” Jataka will be showcased near the Gangarama Temple on May 23, 24, 25, and 26.
The “Mindfulness” meditation program will be held (20th) at 7:30 am at the Independence Square, with the participation of 500 representatives from schools, universities, international schools, and technical colleges.
